Black History Month: Art as Survival: Creations of Black Youth Art Exhibit

February 1, 2018 to February 17, 2018
8:00 AM
Art Gallery

Cost: Free and Open to the Public

Multicultural Affairs Office is excited to invite young Black artists from across Pittsburgh to submit their work to be displayed in the Chatham University Art Gallery during Black History Month in 2018. Black youth are often at the forefront of social movement and are very much activists. As artists and creators, they use visual, literary, performance and other facets of art to express that their personal is political. In this way, art becomes more than a hobby. It becomes a voice, an extension of oneself, and a means of survival. This gallery will display visual art (paintings, drawings, prints, typography work, and photographs) submitted by Black Pittsburgh youth.
