Zakk’s work revolves around the environment and human interest. His MFA thesis documentary, The Ocean Breathes, focuses on the unique wind conditions of the Outer Banks, North Carolina. The film explores how these winds have aided in the establishment of this distinct community and how they might carry the region into the future, with wind power as a renewable energy source. The film premiered at the Hatteras Island Surf Film & Music Festival in July of 2012 and is in the process of submission to different festival circuits.
