Summer Lee is a lifelong resident of the 34th district, and a proud graduate of Woodland Hills High School, Pennsylvania State University and Howard University of Law. While at Howard, Lee specialized in civil rights and constitutional law and she worked with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and in the Office of the General Counsel for the District of Columbia Public Schools. Her legal background caused her to gain interest in community activism and organizing, so she has volunteered on campaigns and with community and labor organizations. Her advocacy projects strengthen her support for workers’ rights, a $15 minimum wage, and for increased competency training for educators and elimination of armed police presence in the Woodland Hills schools. Lee’s legislative platform includes criminal justice reform, free, high quality public education, healthcare for all, $15 minimum wage, union protection, tax reform, environmental protection, defending women’s, and LGBTQIA+ rights, and assisting seniors.
