Improving health, health equity, using Community-Based Participatory Research approach to improve health outcomes, Black health, Addressing health disparities, Improving Patient-Centered Outcomes

My work centers around addressing individual and systemic barriers that affect both the health behaviors and health outcomes of Blacks with HIV, hypertension, and diabetes. Prior to my appointment at Chatham, I worked as a medical social worker and researcher for UPMC. There, I worked exclusively with patients on addressing barriers that prevented individuals from accessing and maintaining care. Previous to this appointment, I re-established the Health Education Office apart of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, to assist Black and Brown individuals and families in taking better care of their health. Passionate about this work, I have partnered with both community organizations and faculty from various institutions to transform the lives of residents in the region.
