Student employment opportunities will be available during the fall semester. The nature, responsibilities, and expectations of some positions may be different this year as we navigate considerations for COVID-19 mitigation. Supervisors are encouraged to continue offering hybrid or virtual work options where appropriate and able – please note that some student employment positions must be performed on-ground and in-person, while others may lend themselves to virtual work.
If you are a returning student employee, we encourage you to contact your supervisor directly to find out more about any specific changes or adjustments to positions, and to discuss any safety concerns, considerations, or accommodations you may need in light of the pandemic.
Internships are still a requirement for all undergraduate students. While on-the-ground internship opportunities may have been impacted by the pandemic, many employers and organizations are offering virtual internships this fall. Career Development is working with campus and community partners to develop additional opportunities that will be posted to Handshake as they become available.
Because of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Chatham is offering additional ways for students to fulfill their three-credit internship requirement in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021:
More information on internship exceptions is available at MyChatham > Career Development > Documents & Forms.
If you have additional questions about what to expect related to Internships or Student Employment during the fall semester, please contact the Office of Career Development at careers@chatham.edu.
A limited number of off-campus Federal Work Study positions may be available and will be dependent upon the operations of our off-campus partners.
Online resources, including Handshake, LinkedIn, Nonprofit Talent, Google Careers for Students, Virtual Internships dot com, and many others, are available for students searching for internship opportunities.
Career Development is always available to offer support and additional resources as you navigate your internship path this year. If you have questions or need support in your internship search you can make a virtual appointment with a Career Development staff member via Handshake.
Internship registration deadlines align with important semester dates and the add/drop period. For specific dates and additional information regarding registration and required internship paperwork, please visit the Career Development department page on My.Chatham. We will continue to post updates regarding internship timelines, and in-person vs remote opportunities as they become available.
