Jazz Night

Join us for a night of Jazz in our beautiful Hilda Willis Outdoor Amphitheater.
The show begins at 6:30 with The Funky Fly Project, followed by and intermission. The night then closes with The Cross Currents Featuring Stacia Abbott.

Enjoy dinner before the show in the Esther Barazzone Center before the show or fill a to-go container to enjoy a picnic during. Please preregister for dinner here.

About the Bands:
The Funky Fly Project

The Funky Fly Project is a funk and jazz group operating out of Pittsburgh, PA consisting of Winston Bell, Henry Schultz, Brandon Terry, and Eric Dowdell Jr. A powerful combination of skill and virtuosic playing, you would never know by listening that each member of the project is less than nineteen years old. Developing a sound well beyond their age, the quartet fuse classic jazz styles with contemporary funk to create a unique sound that leaves listeners in awe.

The Funky Fly Project flaunts the soloistic skills of the players while showcasing the group’s inspiring ability to write original compositions with unmatched style and grace. Pulling together an arsenal of different styles and techniques, each track on their debut CD “Deja Vu” is laden with the fresh excitement of youth and expertise rarely found in today’s world of pop music. Cross Currents
Cross Currents has been on the Pittsburgh scene for the last 6 years covering a wide spectrum of music including Smooth Jazz, Fusion and R&B. The name Cross Currents comes from the ability to change musical styles at will and all under the umbrella of jazz.

The group consists of Mark Lucus on Guitar, John Hall on Bass, Timothy Woodruff on Drums, and Max Leake on Keyboards, all working professional musicians and music educators, and all adding to the pot of musical excellence.


Stacia Abbott
Stacia A. Abbott is a vocalist from East Liverpool, Ohio. Ms. Abbott has been singing as far back as she can remember! Being exposed to various musical styles at an early age she became a lover of all the different genres of music. It all started in the church choir under the musical direction of her mother and grandfather. Those teachings led to many opportunities for Ms. Abbott.

She served as the Director of the Greater Faith Family Worship Center YouthChoir for several years and is now currently a member of the Dwayne Dolphin Piccolo Bass Band where she is the lead vocalist. This experience has allowed her to be featured on the debut album, “INDIGENOUS” recorded by the maestro himself, Dwayne Dolphin. She is also in the process of recording in the studio with a few of Pittsburgh’s finest: Brett Williams, Jevon Rushton and Roby “Super Sax” Edwards! You can catch her sharing her artistry at various venues in the city.

Through her vast love of music, it has allowed her to accomplish many endeavors. Being a part of the East Liverpool Community Partnership for Revitalization has led to a very successful annual Ceramic City Jazz and Blues Festival within her hometown. She also provides services for the August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Pittsburgh, PA. Ms. Abbott’s singing style is a combination of classic R&B, Neo-Soul and Jazz with her Gospel roots infused throughout. She has graced the stage with some of Pittsburgh’s finest up and coming artists, local favorites as well as with some of the living legends of Pittsburgh.
