Credit & Scholarships

SLA for Credit

For an additional fee, the SLA can be taken for 3 college credits. The course title is “SUS 125: Leadership in Sustainability” and is taught by SLA Director and Adjunct Faculty, Kelly Henderson. This for-credit version of the program follows the same schedule listed with the addition of the following:

  • Online pre-program readings and coursework (totaling about 15-20 hours) that can be completed on Moodle up to a month before the residential program begins
  • Daily reflective journal assignments during the residential program
  • Leadership Development Plan, project planning documents and final project presentation will be evaluated for grades

Scholarships are occasionally available for the credit cost as funding is available. See the “Scholarships” section below for more information. Full syllabus available for review upon request.


Scholarships

To apply for a need-based scholarship, please email by June 1, 2020 with the subject title "SLA 2020 Scholarship Application" and attach the following documents:

  • First two pages of 2019 Federal Tax Return
  • Essay explaining student's interest in attending the SLA event and why student should be considered for the scholarship (2 pages max)
  • Letter of recommendation from high school guidance counselor (optional but suggested)

Please specify in your email if you are interested in a scholarship for the program fees alone, or if you are also interested in a scholarship to take the program for 3 college credits if funding is available. Please note that advance online work and on-site work, on top of the standard SLA program, is required for the credit version of the program.
