Empowering Women in Communities (EWIC)
Chatham's Women's Business Center (CWBC) offers the "Empowering Women in Communities Program" in different neighborhoods, once each on the fall and the spring. This program is funded by PNC Foundation and is open to women who are residents or have businesses in the selected communities. There is no cost for this program. An application is required.
The program will consist of:
- a 4-week introduction to entrepreneurship course for pre-start-ups called "Empowering Women in Communities Business Concept." This program is for women thinking about starting a business. Classes will focus on what it takes to be an entrepreneur, components of a good idea, preplanning, identifying market needs, registering your business and forecasting sales.
- a 4-week business development course for existing businesses called "Empowering Women in Communities Business Development." This program is for women in business, with classes on developing business and financial plans, financial management, pricing your products/services, hiring staff and/or independent contracts, industry trends and targeting new customers.
- Two financial training workshops on "Financing Your Business" and "Managing the financial operations of your Business."
- One-on-One Financial Counseling for participants in the Empowering Women in Communities training program.
All training will be provided at no cost to the participants.
