Transportation & Safety

Your safety as a member of the Chatham community is one of the University's primary concerns. We are proud of our safety record, but no campus is totally crime free. The Chatham community is encouraged to stay alert, to use common sense, and to not hesitate to ask for help if you need it. Community members can also call 412-365-1230 to speak with Chatham Public Safety.

Free Pittsburgh Public Transportation

Students, faculty and staff can ride Pittsburgh Regional Transit buses for free. Community members need only tap their Chatham ID to board any PRT bus, light rail vehicle or the Monongahela Incline as payment for unlimited rides to downtown Pittsburgh and throughout nearly all areas of Allegheny County.

Parking Regulations

All qualified Chatham University community members are eligible for parking permits and must complete an online parking permit application prior to purchasing. We encourage commuters to share rides with a permit holder to reduce campus traffic and facilitate smoother commutes. Please note new students who live in University Housing on the Shadyside Campus are not permitted to have a car on campus for their first year at Chatham.

ChathamAlert Emergency Notification System

ChathamAlert is an emergency notification system that provides Chatham University students, staff, faculty and others important information during an emergency. The system sends alerts and informational updates via e-mail and text messages. Registration is required.
