Tuesday, November 10, 2020
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Zoom Webinar - Registration Request
Cost: Free
In this Diversity Dialogues session, archivists and librarians will discuss how the historical record does—or does not-- reflect a diverse set of voices and perspectives. Framed in relation to an initiative at the Chatham Archives to collect record of student experiences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the discussion may cover how participatory, community documentation aim to amplify a broad range of perspectives while acknowledging historical failings in documentation of minority communities. Topics may include the impact of extractive documentation practices, an examination of minority representation in archival collections, and ongoing efforts to diversity history-adjacent professions.
