Scare the Stress Away: Howl at the Moon

Wednesday, September 25, 2024
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
JKM Library, McGuire Room (310)

Feeling overwhelmed, lonely, stressed? Come take a deep breath, let out a blood-curdling scream, and give your brain a break with spooky crafts at the JKM Library’s Scare the Stress Away series. Snacks will be provided.

During each session, attendees can create a preselected craft based on a spooky book, or you can play around with the provided crafting supplies to create a horror of your own devising. You can also spend the time simply staring into the void.

Create a personal glowing full moon with jam jars, fairy lights, and tissue paper! Embrace the werewolf indie of you with this delightful craft.

Prompt inspired by Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison, a cozy horror about two sisters both going through major life changes: one is becoming a mother and the other, a werewolf. When one sister moves home to help her twin with her pregnancy, she didn’t expect to reconnect with an old flame, or be forced to deal with past childhood trauma, or to be bitten by a werewolf. But moving home will do that to you.

The books used to create the prompts are part of the Summer Scares program, which is sponsored by the Horror Writers Association (HWA), in partnership with United for Libraries, Book Riot, and Booklist.
