An Initiative to Support Student Veterans and Educate the Campus Community

Open to all students, faculty, and staff.

Dr. John Stakeley, Assistant Professor of Management in the Department of Business & Entrepreneurship, is inviting you to join him for an educational seminar to support student veterans and educate the campus community.

Green Zone is a training program for faculty, staff, and students designed to develop a campus community of support for students who are veterans or family members of veterans. Faculty and staff members will gain tools to enhance the overall college experience of our military affiliated students so they may guide and assist them toward degree completion and onto a successful future. This is achieved by providing an encouraging, structured environment and gaining greater knowledge about campus and community resources focused on military student success.

GOALS OF GREEN ZONE TRAINING:

To expand the number of faculty and staff who can serve as resources and mentors to military-affiliated students

To educate participants on issues, concerns, and resources for military-affiliated students

TOPICS OF DISCUSSION WILL INCLUDE:

Working with military-affiliated students to allow for flexible scheduling around deployments and VA appointments.

Harnessing the strengths of veteran students in the classroom

Better preparing military-affiliated students for their transition into work and career search
