International Edible Book Festival

Monday, April 8, 2024
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
JKM Library, First Floor

Do you enjoy The Great British Bake Off? How about puns? If your answer is yes, this event is for you. The JKM Library is delighted to once again team up with Chatham's food studies program to host the International Edible Book Festival! This once annual celebration was put on hold during the height of COVID-19, but we are pleased to see it return for it's 9th installment in 2024. The International Edible Book Festival is an event celebrated in libraries around the world. It began in 2000 by two women who wanted to combine their love for literature with their love for food and cooking. Participants can sign up to bring an Edible Book and enter it into the competition to WIN PRIZES! But what is an Edible Book? It's a food or beverage item inspired by literature or a love of reading. It can be a recipe mentioned in a book, or something inspired by your favorite books or characters. Or it can simply be about your love of reading. Judges will examine (and taste) the entries to decide winners, and attendees will get to sample the Edible Books as well and vote for their favorites. Please register to attend the event or to submit an Edible Book entry to the festival's contest. Read more about Chatham's past celebrations and about the festival itself to prepare (both linked to the right)! We can't wait to see and taste your amazing Edible Book creations! Have questions? Ask a librarian!
