Scholarships give Chatham students the opportunity to become the leaders of tomorrow, and capital gifts for construction and educational experiences are an investment in Chatham's visionary future.
Endowed scholarships have long played a vital role in Chatham's history, enabling students to pursue their educational goals regardless of their financial situation. Nearly 100% of Chatham's undergraduate student population benefits from student scholarships and financial aid.
Chatham University's endowed scholarship funds supported students with more than $1 million during the 2023-2024 academic year. However, Chatham awards more than $14 million in financial aid and scholarships annually. More than ever, new scholarship dollars are essential to providing an affordable and accessible education to these students.
A named endowed scholarship can be created with a gift of $50,000, payable over five years. If you would like to learn more about establishing an endowed fund at Chatham, please email Joe Junker, Chief Advancement Officer, or call 412-365-1383.
Create a named, expendable scholarship to support a student through their four years at Chatham. Expendable scholarships provide an invaluable source of immediate financial support for our students. You’ll receive an update annually on the student who benefitted from your generosity.
An annual commitment of $2,500 a year for four years creates an expendable scholarship and supports one student through the entirety of their education. You can establish a scholarship individually or with one or more classmates. Set up a recurring annual scholarship payment using our secure online giving form or contact Joe Junker, Chief Advancement Officer, at 412-365-1383 or j.junker@chatham.edu.
Growing the endowment is an ongoing priority for Chatham University. Chatham's endowment consists of multiple separate funds that generate income in perpetuity. Only the interest and appreciation earned are used for current programs and services, ensuring the permanent existence of these funds.
In total, Chatham University has more than 190 endowed funds. A substantial portion of the Chatham University endowment assists the general operating budget each year by providing funds for critical areas such as student scholarships, faculty endowments, program endowments, and funds to support the maintenance of the University’s historic properties.
If you are interested in establishing an endowed fund at Chatham, please email Joe Junker, Chief Advancement Officer, or call 412-365-1383.
A planned gift provides an opportunity for you to integrate a charitable gift into your overall financial, tax and estate plan.

The Dilworth Society was established during Chatham's 125th year to recognize those who wish to remember Chatham University in their estate planning. These plans—such as bequests, trusts or life income gifts—provide a legacy that benefit both Chatham and the donor. The Society is named for Joseph Dilworth, one of Chatham's founders and Board of Trustees member, whose bequest for $10,000 established the building fund for the original Dilworth Hall.
